Sharon Bolkin- 4th Grade Girls Secular Studies



Sharon Bolkin was born in New York City and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor's of Science Degree and a Master's Degree in Education. She holds a State of New York Lifetime Teaching Credential. She was an elementary school teacher for 8 years in New York City Public Schools. Upon moving to Los Angeles, she met her husband, Marty, and they have been married for 30 years. Her daughter, Mandy, is also a teacher.

Devora Pollak- 4th Grade Girls Judaic Studies



Devora Pollak was born and raised in Los Angeles and attended Yavneh and Bais Yaakov Los Angeles. She then attended Yavneh's Teacher's College in Cleveland, Ohio for 2 years. Upon graduation, Mrs. Pollak received her Judaic Studies Teacher Certification and returned home to Los Angeles. She began her teaching career at Emek 26 years ago. She has taught in many different parts of the country, but has returned to Emek, her home, once again.

Rabbi Boruch Friedman- 4th Grade Boys Judaic Studies



Rabbi Boruch Friedman was born and grew up in Minnesota, which makes him part of the "Frozen Chosen." Rabbi Friedman is somewhere in the middle of fourteen siblings. He studied in many different yeshivas, including Buenos Aires, where he began his teaching career in 2001. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their 6 children.

Michael Schwartbach- 4th Grade Boys Secular Studies 



Michael Schwartzbach, better known as “Mr. S”, welcomes the incoming 4th grade students to his class. Over the summer he was one of 1,000 teachers in the entire country selected to attend Columbia University’s Teacher College in New York.  In his previous endeavors he worked at KEARTH 101, Sony Music, and The Firm Music Agency, until he found his calling as a teacher. He and his wife Breanna share a dog, Douglas, who is their first child. Michael is fortunate enough to be the Regional Director of Destination Science summer camp, which gets kids excited about science and builds terrific life skills. Michael received his Bachelor’s Degree in Media Arts and Communication at The University of Arizona. He studied at The University of London, and has obtained a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and an MBA in Business Administration and Marketing.
